About the Artist

Jim Trask

Tell us a little about your self…

Farm raised, BFA at Art Center College of Design, U.S. Navy as an illustrator draftsman, retired Fire Captain with Santa Barbara County, full time artist painting in acrylics and constructing Public Art assemblages since 2003, having built a total of 6 completed pieces for the Port Authority of San Diego, and the City of San Luis Obispo.

Open studio participant for 7 years, including this year, and a member of the Arroyo Grande Public Art Committee.

Tell us about your design “Camo Cow”…

As a Navy Vet concerned that our military war victims are not getting the recognition for their sacrifices of life and limb, I wanted to continue the cause.

Camouflage, the emblem of military service, coupled with a star banner, and the poignant words of a warrior’s purpose in battle, make up the collage for “Camo Cow”. A necklace of dog-tags representing those of the County of San Luis Obispo who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
